Portfolio · Corporate Film 2026 Corporate Film Berlin Job Centres: André's Path Back to Work
The first step was a phone call
André had withdrawn. Health limitations, many open questions, little confidence. What is still possible, what is not? For a long time, he had no answer. For the Berlin Job Centres, in Berlin we accompanied exactly this person, not a statistic.
Today André works as a care assistant in a senior center. The turning point came with a call from David, his caseworker at the Jobcenter Berlin-Pankow. The two tell, in their own words, how a path emerged from that first conversation. This is how an authority shows what „Always human“ actually means.
„ROCC Film told our three stories without smoothing them over. That was the difference.“
Why the camera waited until the laughter was real
André in front of the camera, that was not a given. Anyone who has withdrawn for a long time freezes quickly under observation. So we did without the brightly lit studio interview. The conversation with André and David runs on the audio level only. The images show his journey, not his tension.
The most difficult scene was not the one with the most technology. It was the board game with a resident at the senior citizens' centre. We only set up the camera once the game was already underway. Only when the laughter was genuine was she allowed to watch along.
The imagery changes along with André. Where he was withdrawn, the tones are cool. With the first step, the light becomes warmer. The camera stays calm, because care takes time and the film takes that time.
„The path you walk together begins with the first step.“
Featured in the spot
André looks out of the window, Berlin rooftops, soft light. Then the Pankow Jobcenter: David with a headset, the first phone call. Later the senior centre, André at the table with a resident playing a board game. Her laughter is genuine. Finally his sentence, which doesn't come from the briefing: Human, always there for you.
Those who recognise themselves get in touch
An authority that explains itself convinces no one. A person who tells their story does. André's story is relatable for other job seekers, especially for those with health limitations. They see someone who knew the same doubts and still arrived.
The most beautiful thing about this film: today, André passes on what was given to him. The person the job centre listened to has become someone who listens to the residents. For the Berlin Job Centres, we are working on their campaign for the second year. Christian Martin Schäfer, founder of ROCC Film: “An authority doesn't move people when it talks about itself. It moves people when someone recognizes themselves in it.”
What ROCC Film handled for the Berlin Jobcenter
The Berlin Jobcenter is a public-sector client. For their campaign „Back to Work“, ROCC Film also took responsibility for André's film, from the first idea to the final cut.
