Promotional Video for the Federal Employment Agency's University A degree that helps people. A film that shows it.

What is it like to pursue a degree that leads straight to job centers and employment agencies? This film about the HdBA in Schwerin shows us through the eyes of those who know: students like Florian Lehmann, who was 20 at the time of filming and was already registered with a job center.

A dual degree program needs a film that shows both

The Federal Employment Agency's University trains the people who will later provide counseling at job centers and employment agencies. The program alternates between theoretical instruction on the modern campus in Schwerin and practical training at job centers in the students' home regions, where they work on real cases and take on real responsibilities.

The film, produced in collaboration with the BMAS, brings this everyday life to life. Students talk about campus life—just as we see it in TV shows—about counseling rooms where conversations are rehearsed in a realistic setting, and about that moment at the end of the practicum when you can say, “I’ve helped these people grow.”

You don't attract young talent to government agencies with brochures

Competition for first-year students is fierce, and a school of public administration faces preconceived notions from the start. The film dispels these prejudices by showing, rather than simply claiming: a campus that looks like a real college. A curriculum featuring current, politically relevant topics. And a mission that makes sense: supporting people in difficult life situations.

The structure mirrors the academic year: arriving, learning, putting theory into practice, and understanding the purpose behind it all. The fact that the narrators are the students and faculty themselves lends the film its authenticity. Anyone who sees themselves in this will apply—and already knows why.

"At the end of my internship, I can really see the results of my work and say: I've advised these people, and I've helped them move forward."

Seen in the film

Florian Lehmann, on set 20, is studying labor market management in Schwerin and works at the Elbe-Elster Job Center: theory at the university, practice right here at the center. Allegra Alice Lawnik from the Chemnitz Job Center and other students talk about campus life—balancing free time with exam periods—while faculty members note that the relationship between instructors and students is unique. The film showcases the counseling rooms where conversations are rehearsed, the curriculum—which has been modernized since 2023—and the practical training phases involving real-life cases. It concludes with an invitation: If you have the courage and desire for change, come join us.
