AI in Film Production: Why Your Film Will Still Feel Authentic

Your film won’t feel artificial just because your production uses AI. At ROCC Film in Berlin, AI in film production means that artificial intelligence works behind the scenes on transcripts, subtitles, mood boards, and audio cleanup. The concept, direction, editing, and every single word are decided by people—founders Christian Martin Schäfer and Christoph Wieczorek. Anyone sitting across from us in an interview speaks their own lines. This leaves more time for human connection, and you get a film that your audience will believe in.

Why Real People Make a Better Impression in Corporate Videos

ROCC Film is a Berlin-based film production company specializing in corporate films, founded in 2014, with a team that has over 20 years of combined experience. Time and again, we’ve found that films are more effective when the people in them are genuine. That’s why we never give anyone a script to read during an interview. We certainly have a concept and a script. But the lines spoken during the interview come from the people themselves. You can read about how such a concept is developed before the camera starts rolling in the article at Promotional Video Concept.

To make that happen, everyone on set needs to feel comfortable. We work quickly but in a relaxed manner, and we ensure a respectful atmosphere across all departments. If you apply pressure from the top, you’ll end up with stressed-out people. If you build the atmosphere from the bottom up, you’ll have people who openly share their stories and show where their enthusiasm comes from. Statements like these keep viewers engaged because they come from someone speaking honestly.

Ostrom's TV commercial featuring a real customer

Ostrom put out an online call for satisfied customers. Dieter responded: 70 years old, retired, and at that time a three-year veteran as an e-taxi driver in Berlin. He charges his taxi using NeoGrid AI, which charges it during off-peak hours and credits him with points.

We filmed at Dieter’s home: in the living room, in the underground parking garage, at the wallbox, and around the neighborhood. It was a day of filming in September 2025, covering five different formats, including a TV commercial for linear television. During the shoot, Dieter spoke naturally rather than reciting a script. The following quote comes from the interview: “Today, I’m supporting the energy transition and earning money at the same time, just by charging my car. That’s smart.” This quote aired on TV.

According to Ostrom, the video view campaign featuring Dieter and Rahel von Ostrom reached 101,035 views and had a 20 percent higher click-through rate than Ostrom’s video ads without ROCC material, as of April 27, 2026. People buy from people. They trust someone who speaks credibly about themselves. The full story can be found in the Case Study on Ostrom.

AI in Film Production: How It Helps at ROCC Film

Just because real people are speaking in the interview doesn't mean we don't use AI. We use it a lot, especially for organizational purposes. The rule is simple: AI makes suggestions, and we review and decide.

“We use AI like a junior member of the team. It’s free to make as many suggestions as it wants. We’re the creative directors: we make the decisions, we make corrections, and we fine-tune every single word, every single cut, and every single frame. We use AI so we have more time for human interaction.”

Initial Consultation: Listen Instead of Taking Notes

We only record calls with your consent, without exception. Afterward, we transcribe the conversation locally to ensure no information is lost. For us, this means we don’t have to take notes during the call about whether you’ll need two or three 16:9 movies in the end. We can focus on the content—and on you. What do you really want to communicate? What’s behind the briefing?

Concept and Preparation: Everyone Watches the Same Movie

We welcome suggestions for the concept and the script. The final decision remains ours, right down to the individual word. AI helps with structuring production booklets. It’s now quite good at creating scribbles, storyboard visualizations, and mood boards. The benefit for you: Before the camera starts rolling, the client, partners, actors, and all crew members have the same vision for the film. On set, we then bring that vision to life and make the most of your shoot.

Editing and Post-Production: Getting to the Right Moment Faster

After filming, the AI transcribes the interviews. During editing, we jump directly to the point where a specific word is mentioned, instead of having to listen through two, three, or four hours of footage. Upon request, you can also receive the transcript and use the search function to highlight the passages you like. This makes it quick to provide your feedback.

AI now does a very good job of creating subtitles. Translations provide a usable first draft that we have double-checked. It’s already helpful with versioning, and it’s getting better. And when we’re recording an event or promotional video in a noisy environment, Voice Isolation filters out background noise without significantly distorting the voice.

Phase Where AI Helps Where People Make Decisions
Kick-off call Recording only with your consent; local transcription to ensure nothing is lost Listen. Understand what you really want to say.
Concept and screenplay Proposals for the Concept and Screenplay We proofread, make decisions, and refine every word
Preparation Outline for the production booklet, sketches, storyboard visuals, mood board Which movie will it be? Everyone involved watches the same movie beforehand.
Shoot It doesn't matter Real people, interviewed without a script, in an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable
Editor Transcripts of the interviews, keyword search in the material Every cut, every frame: Is the moment believable? Does it belong in the on-screen shot or the off-screen shot?
Postproduction Subtitles: Very good. Translation: First draft; we'll have it double-checked. Versioning: Helpful; getting better. Voice isolation from background noise: Very good Final review of each version

How You Benefit

No more taking notes or transcribing. That time goes into your film: into the editing and into those small, human decisions. Is this moment believable? Does it belong in the on-screen dialogue or the voice-over? These decisions make the difference between “I understand what the company is trying to say” and “I saw a person I believed in.” People are more likely to remember the second film, and some will even share it with others.

This is how we use AI in both corporate videos and commercials: to free up more time for human interaction. You can find out how we produce a video—from the initial inquiry to delivery—on the page about Corporate Film Production.

Frequently Asked Questions About AI in Film Production

Does ROCC Film use AI?

Yes, behind the scenes. ROCC Film uses artificial intelligence for transcripts, subtitles, initial translations, mood boards, storyboard visualizations, and audio cleanup. The two founders make all the decisions themselves regarding the concept, direction, editing, and every word.

Will AI make my promotional video look artificial?

No. Anyone who sits in front of the camera for an interview with us speaks their own lines. At ROCC Film, AI is primarily used for organizational tasks and in post-production.

Does ROCC Film record our conversations?

Only with your consent. Then we'll transcribe the conversation on-site so that no information from the briefing is lost and we can listen instead of taking notes.

Can AI generate subtitles and translations for our movie?

Subtitles—yes, that works very well now. Translators provide a first draft, which we have double-checked before a foreign-language version is sent to you.

Do AI-generated people appear in your movies?

No. The people in front of the camera are real people: your employees, your customers, or actors and actresses.

Who makes the decisions about editing and text at ROCC Film?

Christian Martin Schäfer and Christoph Wieczorek, the founders of ROCC Film. The AI makes suggestions, which the two of them refine and finalize, right down to the individual frame.
