Explainer Video Prices 2026
All prices net. Full service from briefing to delivery. No hidden costs.
The classic animated explainer video. Illustrated graphics, professional narrator, clear structure. Perfect for software, processes and abstract topics.
The best of both worlds: real people and locations combined with animated graphics, infographics or motion graphics. Explains and persuades at the same time.
For complex topics that need more depth: elaborate 2D/3D animation, multiple chapters or a series of explainer videos from one production run.
Budget under €5,000? Fast video communication also works as social media content, which starts at €3,000.
Cost structure
With an explainer video the weighting shifts compared to live action productions: concept and animation dominate.

Budget distribution
Briefing, specialist research, scriptwriting. With an explainer video the text is the foundation. Every sentence must land, every second counts. This is where it is decided whether the video becomes understandable.
Visual concept, character design, scene composition. The storyboard defines what the viewer sees with each sentence. The more elaborate the style, the higher the effort.
2D or 3D animation, motion graphics, compositing, sound design. The most time-intensive phase. Every second of animation costs hours of work.
Professional narrator, licensed music, sound effects. The voice carries the message, the music the emotion. Both must fit the topic and the brand.
Animation is suitable for everything that cannot be filmed: software interfaces, abstract processes, technical workflows, data flows, future scenarios. Animation makes the invisible visible and the complex simple. For SaaS products, fintech, insurance companies and B2B service providers this is often the most efficient path.
If your product exists physically, real people play a role, or you want to build trust through authenticity, the hybrid approach delivers more. Live action scenes create closeness and credibility; animated graphics explain the details. The result: an explainer video that both informs and persuades emotionally.
Start with the question, not the format. What must the viewer have understood after 90 seconds? From this it follows whether animation, live action or hybrid is the best solution. We advise you honestly – even if that means a brand film would be the better investment.
Animation styles
The style has a big influence on how elaborate your explainer video becomes: the more custom the illustrations, characters, and movements, the more time goes into design and animation. That's why we choose it based on your topic and your brand — and tell you honestly if a leaner look works just as well.
A note on length up front, since it’s often overestimated: briefing, voiceover script, storyboard and sound design take almost as much work at 30 seconds as at 90 seconds – it’s mainly the animation itself that scales with runtime. The style, on the other hand, affects the whole production. Here are the six most common styles:
Reduced shapes, clear colors, high pace. The standard for software, apps, and digital services: quick to produce and easy to adapt to your CI.
Characters your audience recognizes themselves in. Likeable and memorable, but more involved — every character has to be designed and animated.
Numbers, data and relationships in motion. Ideal when there's no physical product: rates, processes, study results.
The classic with a workshop feel: the image is built step by step in front of the viewer's eyes. Great for processes and change topics, deliberately simple in look.
For technology that needs to be cut open or shown from the inside. Modeling, textures, lighting and rendering take more time than 2D – but in return you get to see what no camera could ever film.
Your real interface, cleanly recorded or rebuilt. Perfect for onboarding, because your users recognize exactly what they'll see later.
Return on Investment
An explainer video does not replace a sales presentation. It prepares it. Anyone who has watched your video comes to the conversation with fewer questions and more understanding. That saves time, shortens the sales cycle and increases the close rate.
Most explainer video agencies sell templates. You choose a style from the catalogue, send a text, and receive a video that looks like a thousand others. That works for 2,000 €. But it doesn't really explain anything.
We work differently: we first understand your product, then we write the script. We come from film production, not from an animation factory. That means: storytelling dramaturgy instead of bullet points, visual narrative instead of illustrated PowerPoint slides.

Compare quotes
Two quotes only become comparable once it's clear what's actually included in each. These six points clarify that faster than any price list — ask every provider about them, us included.
When two quotes are far apart, it's almost always down to these factors, and rarely to the video length. For a first sense of your budget, check out our Cost calculator – we clarify everything else in the initial consultation.

Explainer VideosFrequently Asked Questions
An explainer video at ROCC Film in Berlin starts at €5,000 net: an animated video of 60 to 90 seconds with script, voice-over and graphics. The hybrid version with live action and animation runs €6,000 to €10,000. We set no upper limit, because the price grows with length, animation depth and the number of language versions.
Typically 4 to 8 weeks. Of this, 1–2 weeks go to concept and voiceover script, 1–2 weeks to illustration and storyboard, and 2–3 weeks to animation and post-production. Hybrid videos with a shooting day need a little more lead time for planning and logistics.
That depends on the topic. Animation is suitable for software, abstract processes and technical workflows. Live action works when real people or physical products are the focus. Hybrid explainer videos combine both and are often the most effective solution. We advise you in the initial consultation on which format suits your topic.
As short as possible, as long as necessary. Most explainer videos work best between 60 and 120 seconds. Under 60 seconds it becomes difficult to explain complex topics clearly. Above 2 minutes attention drops. For training purposes or internal communications, longer formats can also make sense.
You can, but we advise against it. An explainer video script is not a marketing text. It must be spoken language, timed to seconds, synchronised with visual cues. We write the text based on your briefing – you give feedback, we refine until it works.
Absolutely. From the Hybrid package onwards, we deliver social media cuts in 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 – optimised for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. An explainer video is one of the most versatile content types: website, landing page, newsletter, social media, trade show, sales presentation.
German and English as standard. Additional languages are available as an add-on – we work with a network of professional native-speaker voice artists. In the Premium package multilingual versions are already included.
For pure animations, location is irrelevant – that works completely remotely. For hybrid explainer videos with a shooting day we come to you: throughout Germany and internationally on request. Travel costs are calculated transparently in the quote.
